  • I'm happy I found this project! Just started using it to help me manage multiple rotas and groups of people. Actively developed (fast responses to tickets by the developers) and what appears to be a solid concept. Looking forward to seeing it develop further.
  • My church is currently struggling with the management of rotas (using spreadsheets) and I have been doing some investigations in existing rota / staff scheduling software, preferably online and open-source. I found a few good ones, but they are too expensive for a small congregation. My opinion is that "Church Rota" is exactly what we need, really easy to use, and doing what we expect i.e. defining users and skills, scheduling the events and sending people emails or giving them access to the snapshot overview (the feature I like best). However I had to spend quite a long time to figure out how to install it and get everything working, including the email system. If you are familiar with MySql and Apache then that should be ok, but if you are more used to deploy a .deb or .rpm package (which is my case) then you will have to do some research to get everything working. The main difficulties I had were: - configuring manually an Apache2 Virtual Host / Alias - setup sendmail / postfix to relay the users emails through gmail (smtp). But everything is working now, it's really worth the effort so do give it a try!!!
  • Perfect, exactly the software I have searched for. I am responsible to manage the rota in our church. With this software I can give different persons direct access to their schedule. They can inform about the days they are planed to serve in church and I do not need to spend so much time in doing organisational stuff, e.g. bringing service needs and people interest together or publish information via web/email. Because I had the need of some missing features I decided to ask for joining development. And ... for now I (as a software engineer) am creating new features that we need in our church or I think they might be useful. Again, great software, I can only recommend it to you - give it a try and let me know what you think about, what you like and what you are missing.
