Asteroid v1.2 Released

Asteroid (just one!) is a modern version of the arcade classic Asteroids, using OpenGL, GLUT, and SDL_mixer. It features a variety of powerups, taunting aliens, 3D textured asteroids, face-melting sound effects, and infinite playability.

Asteroid v1.2 brings GTK dialogs and a desktop file so you can happily play Asteroid without ever touching a console. Check it out at http://chaoslizard.sourceforge.net/asteroid or hit the Ubuntu PPA directly at https://launchpad.net/~chazomaticus/+archive/asteroid/+packages RIGHT AWAY.

Nickel v1.1.0 released

Nickel is a library for hierarchical maps and .ini files. It's useful for reading, manipulating, and writing arbitrary application configuration data, among other things. Nickel is designed to be fast, robust and portable. And of course, it's open source (zlib-/libpng-licensed).

Version 1.1.0 improves on the initial release by fixing a few small bugs and massively cleaning things up internally. Information about the release can be found on chaoslizard.sf.net: http://chaoslizard.sourceforge.net/nickel or for full documentation visit the development site: http://www.chaoslizard.org/devel/bohr/wiki/Docs/Ni

glbmp v1.1 distribution available for download

glbmp is an extremely portable, simple, robust, and lightweight replacement for the auxDIBImageLoad and related device-independent bitmap (.bmp) image loader functions of glaux, but it goes far beyond just that. At the basic level, it's a flexible bitmap loader and decoder that can be used anywhere you need to get the color data of a .bmp file. glbmp v1.1 sees architecture-independence and is considered stable on Win32, Linux, and MacOS X. This distribution of glbmp is the source files (previously available on the website, http://chaoslizard.sf.net/glbmp/\) packaged with a tutorial. Enjoy!
