Yes. I put JChemPaint near the top of our priorities. For example I
would like to see it as our default structure entry tool and also
popularize it as an authoring tool for manuscripts. But it's not
robust enough for this.

I agree. I'm not volunteering personally. I think we need a new guru
- maybe people have been reluctant to volunteer up to now.
