I've written two short articles on JRuby and how it
can be used together with Java chemical informatics
The first article contains some JRuby installation
information. It's actually very straightforward. The
second article shows how a DEPICT-style 2-D coordinate
generator can be developed using CDK an a few lines of
In doing these two mini-projects, I can see that the
JRuby approach has some advantages over doing the same
thing in Java. Ruby is a wonderful language for
getting things done quickly and interactively.
P.S. my provider is currently having some problems
with my content, so if you get a 502 error, reload the
page once (or twice). I'm currently working with them
on this, but it shouldn't be permanent.
