still, getting error in command line:

[gs@gesho cdgtools]$ python cdggui.py
Traceback (most recent call last):

        sys.exit(StartGUI())

Hi,

This one was fixed some time ago in CVS; I just haven't made a new release yet because there is only that one change. To fix it, either grab the latest source from CVS or add the following line at the top of cdgtools.py (near the other "import" statements):

import sys

Hope that helps,
Kelvin.

thanks, adding line worked.

cvs version did not work for me, it is giving me error:
[gs@gesho cdgtools]$ python cdggui.py
        File "cdggui.py", line 5
          <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"
          ^
SyntaxError: invalid syntax

thanks for help. and as you are so kind, I'll ask for another issue with pykaraoke, guess better open another topic for this.

It looks like however you grabbed it from CVS has inserted some HTML formatting. Did you save from cvsweb?

i downloaded in through web, browsing
http://cdgtools.cvs.sourceforge.net/cdgtools/cdgtools/

now, here comes my biggest thing: burning cdg's (wife's christmas bonus, high stakes) :)

I ran cdg2bin and got toc/bin files (:yes:), all good.

but problem is cdrdao (output attached).
I have _NEC DVD +-RW ND-6650A on my dell,
it also has:
cdrdao driver: auto
cdtextcapable: auto
supports burnfree: yes
write modes: SAO; TAO; RAW; SAP/R96R; RESTRICTED OVERWRITE
(I am just copying some lines from K3

could it be that my drive can't digest coocked toc?

I also tried to run cdg2bin -r option, but script gives me warnings, raw mode not yet supported. any workaround?

appreciate any advice,
thanks again for all your help.

cdrdao output:

I finally managed to burn cdg by

cdrdao write --driver generic-mmc-raw --device ATA:1,0,0 cdg.toc

that is, -raw driver could connect to my cd-writer (info attached)

I ran this both, for
./cdg2bin.py
and
./cdg2bin.py -r
options.

In both cases I get sound in karaoke machine (memorex) but no text on tv (karaoke plays other disks, bought from store all right, with text).

I used several cdg+mp3 files, still, no text.

I looked at the disk, they have following data:
system:/media/hdc/CDA
system:/media/hdc/FLAC
system:/media/hdc/Full CD
system:/media/hdc/Information
system:/media/hdc/MP3
system:/media/hdc/Ogg Vorbis
system:/media/hdc/Track 01.wav
system:/media/hdc/Track 02.wav
system:/media/hdc/Track 03.wav
system:/media/hdc/Track 04.wav

system:/media/hdc/Track 06.wav

system:/media/hdc/Track 12.wav
system:/media/hdc/Track 13.wav
system:/media/hdc/Track 14.wav

this is my cd/dvd rw:
[root@gesho cdgtools]# cdrdao drive-info --device ATA:1,0,0

I am getting the same error on ubuntu 7.10.

[code} File "/home/eric/cdgtools/cdggui.py", line 569, in <module>
          sys.exit(StartGUI())
NameError: name 'sys' is not defined
I checked cdgtools.py and the following line is already there.
# See http://www.kibosh.org/cdgtools/ for more details.

import sys

# Common version string for all cdgtools modules
VERSION_STRING = "0.3"
Hi,

That one was fixed some time ago in CVS but we haven't made a release for quite a while. I'll release v0.3.1 as soon as possible to fix this.

In the meantime you can either grab the latest code from CVS, or add the line:
          import sys

near the other import statements in cdggui.py.

Thanks,
Kelvin.
