CSO/CFS are open and free to use ISO compressed formats, and I think it would be nice to have them supported in CDEmu.
I think it's compatible with GPL, but I'm not sure.

Discussion

  • A couple of thoughts...

First, I'm not sure many uses the format at all.
Next, I'm not fond of formats that are convoluted.
    Open specifications are good.

Doubt any developers would want to spend time on that format, but that doesn't mean we'll say no to patches.

  • ok, so i've discovered that the CSO format is indeed in common use (PSP ROMs). so this tracker item is reopened.

However, I'd really like to see a unified compression layer in libmirage in the form of a fragment handler and before that happens it would be a bit premature to write a parser. there's at least two or three more formats that would benefit from it.
