When version 4 is all done and that, ihave a few feature requests that
would (IMO) help out the open clip art library heaps. (sorry in
advance if some of this stuff is already implemented...)
1. News / Blogging
A way to plug in a RSS feed into the main page as the news: at the
open clipart library, we have our planet planet, and we would like to
beable to just point ccHost to that feed, and a set number of posts
are displayed on the main page.
That way, with the appropriate CSS classes in place, we would just
have to edit the css to make it look the way we want...
2. Reviews and stuff.
(a) it would be handy to have a sequential list (by the date they we
posted) of all the reviews AND replies that have gone on in the
system. This would be handy from an community admin point of view to
get a snapshot of all the communications that have gone on. (maybe
also a option to notify by mail these as well.)
(b) also, an option to beable to change the "review" stat to include
both review and replies, or maybe invent a new variable to store and
show the number of replies that a user has done.
3. User details
(a) It would be also useful to have the ability to change some of the
fields that a user can say about themself on their user page. For
example: "what I pound on" is not really applicable to the clip art
application that OCAL uses cchost for.
(b) Also, the stats about a particular person are remix-orientated
(which is good for ccmixter) but the majority of our uploads are
originals or sourced from external sources, so these stats don't
really apply for us.
4. System Tags
At OCAL, we have started using the system tags to flag images: for
example all images when they are uploaded to the system are given the
unchecked tag. When a admin checks it and it is okay, we remove that
At the moment we have to click the admin link on the RHS, then remove
the text from the field, then apply the changes, then the confirmation
screen comes up.
What I think may be a good idea is to have an array of "toggle-able"
system tags. When an admin goes into a upload's page, one click will
toggle that tag on or off instantly (maybe even something ajax-y)
Anyhoo, that is the biggest email I have ever written, I am sorry for
babbling on, but those are just some ideas I have had to make life
easier for us...
