when editing a score, it commonly occours that I add or
delete a note such that bars have to be re-set (e.g.
inserting a one quarter note, such that all other notes
are placed one quarter to the right). This often
happens on arranging or composing a piece of music. In
this case, at the moment one has to manually delete all
following bar lines and set the new correct bar lines,
which is not very satisfying. Here it would be great if
all bar lines were set automatically. Then, for
example, if I add a note and the bar becomes too full,
all bar lines are adjusted (i.e. the last note(s) of
the now overfull bar are moved into the next bar, and
so on, which is of course equivalent to moving the bar
lines to the left). For special cases (e.g. a pickup)
one still needs additional manual bar line placement.
This feature can be found e.g. in Capella (www.capelle.de).
