#10 Connections are leaking

I observe that there are 15 instances of
NewPooledConnection
objects. But, the instance variable physicalConnection
in NewPooledConnection is retaining 18,942 objects.

I did some simple load tests and profiled the
application, left the server running for 12 hours and
when I took a snapshot again, I see that the
physicalConnection field is retaining enormous amounts
of Connection objects totalling to 2.5 MB.

My pool max size is default, 15 connected to MySql.
I've attached the screenshot of the profiling snapshot
for a better picture.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Venkatesh

    Venkatesh,

The attachment didn't show up... what you are seeing
sounds very strange, as each NewPooledConnection
has a single physicalConnection reference... I'm not
sure how 15 instances could reatin 18942 objects.
Perhaps your tool is reporting on uncollected garbage
as well as genuinely retained objects?

Please do post the screenshot of our profiling tool,
and also post the version banner and config dump
c3p0 outputs upon initialization. Also, if you can send
your test code, that would be useful as well. You can
write me directly at swaldman@mchange.com if
you'd like. (but please note, i'm in high stress mode
for the next few weeks, and support/fix turnaround
may be slower than you and i both would like.)

    smiles,
    Steve
