I miss the possibility to group files with a prefix
and number like:

ma001
ma002
ma003

jfk1
jfk10
jfk23

frank00001
frank00002

I couldn't make it with the groupsyntax.

maybe a new wildcard is necessary maybe # for the
decimals in front of :

Maybe something like this

"N#:"

# is for a numberstring any length

maybe something like this is working then too

"N#####:"
"N####:"
"N###:"

each # for a digit

would be nice for grouping large number of files.

Thanks for BTTB

True, I'll think about it for the next version... but
do you really have random char+digit combinations? If
there are just a couple of prefixes, one rule for each
prefix would of course do the trick...

yes, they are random and I know that will be the
difficulty.

I made a program before some months in visualbasic

it positons at the point and then back to the first letter

it makes a directory with left$ then. and moves the
files into it.

maybe this is a hint for you.

I'll consider it, but as I'd have to do quite a bit of
rewriting of the parser (which currently relies on
constants between the variables) I don't know how soon
it'll be included.

As an alternative, you can sort on name and quickly
group the entries together...
