I have now got to grips with this tool, and it is an
excellent, if somewhat difficult to learn, solution to
my data backup.

However, I have a question about what I'm trying to do
at the moment. I'm not sure if this is possible, but
I'd thought I'd ask here before proposing a new feature.

Let's say I have four subfolders below my main folder.
Each subfolder contains about 1GB of files, i.e. about
1 1/2 CDs worth:

MainFolder
Subfolder1
file
file
file
.. about 1GB in total
Subfolder2
.. the same
Subfolder3
.. the same
Subfolder4
.. the same

Obviously, I must enable a splitting depth of 1. Now, I
know 2 things:

1. The whole mainfolder will fit on 6 (700MB) CDs
2. Each subfolder will fit on 2 CDs

But if I let BTTB do its thing, only number 1 is true.
That is, it may scatter files from subfolder1 across
all 6 CDs. This means that if I want to restore, say,
Subfolder3, I have to pick up more than 2 CDs.

If I process the subfolders individually, then I can
get option 2, i.e. they span only 2 CDs, but then I
have more than 6 CDs overall, since there is no way to
get the next bit of processing to "use up" the
remaining CD space.

"Grouping" doesn't solve this because that only allows
me to specify what is to be kept on 1 CD. I want to
specify what is to be kept to 2 CDs (or whatever is the
minimum that the files will occupy).

What I would like would be an extra constraint, noted
by a checkbox called something like "spread folders
minimally". Put simply, this option would force BTTB to
spread any individual folder over the minimum number of
CDs.
