Actually, I am trying to uninstall BRL CAD as it is just far beyond my limited capabilities to even get the program up and running. I am a true UNIX illiterate, so I just do not know what I am doing in UNIX.

What I am trying to do, however, in MAC is to simply remove the files. When I go to terminal and type "rm -rf /usr/brlcad"
I get "rm: /usr/brlcad: Permission denied"

Why? All I want to do is remove the files so I am not clogging up my hard drive. Any help is greatly appreciated.

When you originally installed BRL-CAD, it prompted you for your password so it could install them into /usr/brlcad. To uninstall, you similarly will have to provide your password:

    sudo rm -rf /usr/brlcad

It will warn you about the command being logged and being careful to know what you're doing because you are executing the command with elevated privileges. That will do the trick, though, and delete BRL-CAD.
