Initial Comment:
On Fedora 8, building from CVS as of Dec 8, 2007, with ./configure --enable-optimized
make
...
In file included from tienet_slave.h:39,
                 from tienet_slave.c:36:
tienet_util.h:58: error: expected specifier-qualifier-list before 'uint8_t'

And then a series of errors related to it - its defining a struct there, and there are some undefined references to it following, but that's the core of the problem.  

My GCC version is:
gcc (GCC) 4.1.2 20070925 (Red Hat 4.1.2-33)

Not familiar with filing these, so I don't know what else I should be giving you.

James, thanks for the report -- you provided plenty of information.  The
compilation error was due to a recent mod made just a couple days ago that
hasn't gone through the usual cross-platform rigor just quite yet.  In
particular, a header (stdint.h) was missing for the uint8_t type.  The
missing header was added, so it should be good to go now though I caution
that development on HEAD will have issues like that from time to time. 
There is a STABLE branch for what should be the production-quality
compilations that have gone through more rigor.

As for adrt, you can disable that entire sub-package with the
--disable-adrt configure option if it continues to give you trouble.
