I was planning to make notes which more
completely describe the commands than the output
of "help" gives. It occurred to me that it may
be more useful if I instead expand the messages
provided when help is called. So I wanted to
know it there would be any problems with somewhat
longer help messages. The only drawback I could
see is a little more memory devoted to strings.
Thanks for any info.
Sounds like a good idea to me. I've thought about expanding the help for each command into more of a manual page style system where there'd be a detailed information page available for each command, while retaining a shorter apropos-style one line summary. The Quick Reference sheet I put together a few weeks ago (on the main website) is at least a start at organizing the commands, which had never happened before as well. It's painful for new users to 'discover' how to use mged (almost intentionally so) -- several tutorials are pretty much required at this point before even basic operability is acheived.
