On the machines we've tried, 7.18.0 does not seem to be running.  Under XP32, it gives a nicely ambiguous "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect.  Reinstalling the application may fix this problem" pop-up.

On Vista (32 and 64) windows returns a more desctiptive "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect.  Please see the application event log for more details"

The event log shows "Activation context generation failed for "c:\Program Files (x86)\BRL-CAD\7.18.0\bin\mged.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.CRT,processorArchitecture="amd64",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50727.4053" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis."

    After reading a few references
    (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/junfeng/archive/2006/04/14/576314.aspx) (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms235342(VS.80).aspx)
it seems like we lack the VC 2005 redistributable.  What really confuses me is that the redistributable is installed and running.  The architecture, token, and version refered to above is on our machines.  I tried reinstalling the VC2005 redist, but nothing changed.

The good problems are the ones that teach me something new,
    Brian

Just thought I should confirm that the new build is working.
