Pressing Shift p or CapsLock p while in the graphics
window instantly shuts down BRL-CAD. I have done this
accidentally a few times, usually by unknowingly
fatfingering the CapsLock key and then entering p in
order to select an object. Is this supposed to be a
feature? Maybe P means Panic. It might as well mean
Piss off user; it certainly works! I am running 7.6.0
on Linux.

Great! This "feature" works in 7.8.0 also!

Hmm.. "P" is bound to the command sed_apply which would normally apply
any changes made to a model while in solid edit mode (i.e. while editing a
primitive). There does appear to be serious bug if you run sed_apply while
not in that mode.. I'm looking into what the bug exactly is, but a quick work-
around should be to change/unset the binding of the "P" key. I forget the
exact syntax, but it's you can type something like this on the mged command
    line to unset the binding:

    bind .id_0 P

I'll post a follow-up when the fix is made or if I find anything more out.

The bug was isolated and should now be fixed. The fix will be in the
forthcoming 7.8.4 release (in a week or less). Thanks for the report and for your
    patience!
