Updating BRL-CAD on Linux Ubuntu 9.1
svn co https://brlcad.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/brlcad/brlcad/trunk brlcad cd brlcad sh autogen.sh ./configure --prefix=/usr/brlcad/dev-7.16.9 --enable-all make sudo make install /usr/brlcad/dev-7.16.9/bin/mged
Thank you for your advice Sean. I tried to update the version. I installed the following packages: libtool, built-essential, checkinstall, configure-debian, devscripts and autoconfig using Synaptik. But in the make step I got the following error - can you help?
It looks like you do not have the X11 headers/libraries installed. The build fails when trying to compile our 3rd party dependencies. I highly suspect that your configure output includes a message about X11 not being detected.
For Ubuntu, you'll need to install either libx11-dev or xlibs-dev. Then you can retry the build with a *fresh* checkout (so that it can properly detect the x11 headers/libraries and not use a cached result).
