This is a really sophisticated piece of software! Why is it using a build script that's a hack? It would definitely be in portage, Debian, etc, if it had a proper configure script. If it were in portage, Debian, etc, then there would be many more users finding bugs and contributing patches.

Let me know if you want one made - I've never set this stuff up before, but I'd be willing to leran.

The build script being a hack is a bit of history. It is partially due to starting work before there were a common set of build tools across all systems, and in a larger part due to my own ignorance. The fun in developing the application is in the application itself, not the build tools - I agree they need to be done however it is a little like "non-productive development" effort.

This case may obviously stay open for a while. The latest development work has been on usability (MIDI controller mappings, keyboard mappings), the current effort is in sound quality (new filters, some reworked oscillators), so perhaps the next big effort may cover the build processes.

If you do want to work on this I would be happy to accept the effort, and I may increase the priority of the request based on your very complimentary remarks in the request.

The current 0.9.6 stream as been converged into GNU autotools build procedures. The release should be current but not widely tested (only a few systems to date). It installs and runs however the configuration files will develop over time.

The stream will be 0.10.1 and will be uploaded presently.

Not been tested with jack although it does compile the code.

Release has been uploaded, and downloaded to several sites. That is not to say fixes will not be necessary but those are future cases.
