Hi there.. just compiled Bristol yesterday, and I could only get it to work with jack, not oss or alsa..  It was scratcy (I should probably limit the voices), and the output was very, very low.

Is there something I am doing wrong?

    Thanks!
    Kris

The output from many of the synths is indeed very low, this is historic and will be corrected in a future release. The issue was unpredictable filters, they had a tendancy to self-oscillate at a very high gain, this is something that has improved with new filters.

To work around the issue now you may want to try a different '-gain' option to the startBristol script, some sites are using a value as high as '-gain 64'. Be aware that some of the emulations do not have filters (DX/Hammond/B3/Vox) and they may have a higher output gain. A future release will allow you to specify the gain per emulation, but at the moment the parameter is global.

      Kind regards,

      Nick.
