Hi there,

I cannot compile the H8 GCC compiler in order to
compile BrickOS.

The compiler used is gcc 2.95.2 downloaded from your
website. I am using cygwin on a W2K Box.

I have followed the instructions on the brickos website
to the letter, and during the compile process ( after
running buildgcc.sh), the following message comes up :

//*
Configuring for a i686-pc-cygwin32 host.
*** This configuration is not supported in the following
subdirectories:
target-libstdc++ target-libio
(Any other directories should still work fine.)
//*

As soon as this comes up, H8300.h and H8300.c in the
C:\cygwin\build\gcc-2.95.2\gcc\config\h8300 are both
renamed to have a .orig
extension.

This causes the build to fail when compiling tm.h when
it cannot find H8300.h
with the following message :

//*
In file included from /build/gcc-
2.95.2/gcc/config/i386/xm-i386.h:43,
from config.h:8,
from /build/gcc-2.95.2/gcc/cccp.c:21:
tm.h:5:25: h8300/h8300.h: No such file or directory
make[1]: *** [cccp.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/build/gcc/gcc'
make: *** [install-gcc] Error 2
Thu Oct 9 20:48:58 AUSEST 2003 GCC install end

//*

Now, if I sneak in and rename the files back to their
proper name during the
build, the build proceeds much further, but then fails
with the following
message :

//*
/build/gcc-2.95.2/libiberty/choose-temp.c:29: stdio.h:
No such file or directory
/build/gcc-2.95.2/libiberty/choose-temp.c:30:
sys/types.h: No such file or
directory
make[1]: *** [choose-temp.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/build/gcc/h8300-hitachi-
hms/libiberty'
make: *** [install-target-libiberty] Error 2
Thu Oct 9 21:51:12 AUSEST 2003 GCC install end
//*

Please advise. Is this an incompatibility issue with my
machine, a defect in
the build scripts or what?
