I just downloaded/installed the latest version of free:ac. The Beginners Guide
says to "click the 'Add audio CD contents' button to add the tracks to the
joblist." But there is no "Add audio CD contents" button. There are 8 buttons,
labeled "Add audio files", "Remove selected entry", "Clear the joblist",
Configure/general, Configure/encoder, Start, Pause, and Stop. How do I add the
    audio CD contents?

If the CD ripping related buttons are not displayed, it means that fre:ac did
not recognize any CD drives on your computer.

This sometimes happens with external drives that require special drivers, but
may also be caused by other things (a bad configuration or copy protection
software like the Sony Rootkit for example). How is your CD drive connected to
    your computer?

Thanks for the information. I tried free:ac again today and, though I made no
changes in my system, now it works! No idea why it didn't before. (FWIW, the
CD drive is an internal, garden-variety type, no copy-protection software, and
it's been working fine on my system for a couple of years.)
