I have a debian Woody 3.0r2 with the minimalist installation.

I have installed ifenslave (apt-get install ifenslave) and edit this
files:

/etc/network/interfaces:
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

  auto eth0
  iface eth0 inet static
          address 192.168.0.10
          netmask 255.255.255.0
          network 192.168.0.0
          broadcast 192.168.0.255
          gateway 192.168.0.1

  auto eth1
  iface eth1 inet static
          address 192.168.0.10
          netmask 255.255.255.0
          network 192.168.0.0
          broadcast 192.168.0.255
          gateway 192.168.0.1

  auto bond0
  iface bond0 inet static
          address 192.168.0.10
          netmask 255.255.255.0
          network 192.168.0.0
          broadcast 192.168.0.255
          gateway 192.168.0.1
up route del -net 192.168.0.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 dev e
th0
up route del -net 192.168.0.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 dev e
th1
          pre-up ifenslave bond0 eth0 eth1
          post-down ifconfig eth0 down
          post-down ifconfig eth1 down

and /etc/modules:
bonding mode=1 miimon=100
3c59x

My NICs are two 3com 905b PCI.

All works fine with the Linux Kernel 2.4.18 when I cut the network
cable, I am immediatly informed of the problem.
But when I use Kernel 2.4.27 (or 2.4.25) and I cut the network
cable the bonding don't see that a NIC is down. I am informed only
1 minute later and during this time the network isn't accessible.

Nothing change betwen the configuration 2.4.18 and 2.4.27.

I don't understand.
Sorry for my english.
