I've got a situation where we might want to try bonding two interfaces:
A) an Ethernet connection running at 10Mb/s full-duplex
B) an HDLC connection (over a T-1) running 1.544Mb/s full-duplex
The second, obviously, does not present an Ethernet-like interface nor
have any MII/ethtool support, so I'm not sure whether it could even be
involved in a bond... but I'm more concerned about the speed mismatch,
since the balance-alb/tlb modes appear to rely on ethtool to learn what
speed the interface is operating at.
We could certainly just run in active-backup mode, but since we're
paying for both links it would be nice to able to bond them and spread
the traffic across them proportionately.
Is this even remotely workable, or am I just going to spend a lot of
time fighting weird issues and be frustrated :-)
