I know there was a patch a while back by Radheka Godse (2.6.1 -> 2.7.0) which allowed multiple bonds to be configured with different module parameters, without having to reload the module for each bond.

I've just re-implemented this for RedHat ES 4, update 4, 2.6.9-42.EL kernel (bonding driver 2.6.3 / June 8, 2005), the patch is attached. Is there any chance of incorporating something like this into the driver?

Thanks, Dominic Robinson

Probably not, since the mainline driver now has support for sysfs, which allows for arbitrary configurations of bonding as well, but isn't limited by the module parameter API. If memory serves, Radheka's method didn't provide for a way to have per-bond arp_ip_targets; I skimmed your patch and it appears to have the same limitation.

The above notwithstanding, I don't see much reason to add this kind of module parameter API given that sysfs already does this in a more flexible manner.

Thanks, I'll use the sysfs approach in future.
