Hi,

well stanislav is doing a great job on the SMP simulation but how about actually employing SMP on the HOST system in order to speed up the simulation itself?

i know this is complicated , think of the different combinations:
1 simulated on 1
2 simulated on 2
1 on 2
2 on 1
.........
.........

Can this be done?
if yes how about specifying how many cpu's are supposed to be used on the host system?
is also possible to limit the cpu utilization on the host?

cheers

I guess it is not possible to specify how many host cpus or which cpu to use by an application. The only way to take adavantage of an SMP host is to use multithreading. In that case the host OS is able to run the threads on different cpus.

well yes , sure by spawning/killing a thread you could control the number of cpu's involved ....
it doesn't matter which host cpu is used , this is the job of the host kernel to schedule
