Would like BOCHS to have a Shared Folder facility like VMWare that allows the hosted OS to see directories ont he host disk.
Bochs already has a similar feature called "vvfat disk image mode". A host directory appears as a harddisk with a VFAT (FAT16 / FAT32) partition inside of Bochs. Modifications can be written back to the host directory on Bochs exit. This feature has been ported from the Qemu project.
Oops, sorry. I found that read only access to the local file system is available AFTER I posted this request. Still, without read/write access this feature is of little use to me. I'm now trying to get DOS networking going so I can access shares where I can manipulate data.
Runtime write access requires some code to check whether or not the filesystem is consistent (all sectors written and the directory entry vaild). For now the write support is an option on Bochs exit. If you modify the directory, all changes are going to a temporary file called "redolog". The changes are written back to the host directory if you confirm to modify it on exit.
It would be much better to have shared folder support in the virtual network module. For now the 'vnet' module only supports tftp.
