I would call this "Cosmetic" except that maybe it's a small enough job that I could help implement it. This might be a limitation of wxPython though.

I played with 0.04 on the Win32 platform. If you set your win32 desktop properties so that window color to something other than bright white, the bitmaps have ugly white "rings" around them.

    Hello Warren, if this can be fixed, please do!

    This has been bothering me as well. Previous attempts to fix transparency ran into problems with wxGTK, this might have been fixed in the meanwhile.

    The palette bitmaps are already transparent (magenta backgrounds look familiar? ;), but also have gray equivalents setable with a flag in PrefsMSW or PrefsGTK
    (which I'd lova to get rid of)

    You should first test that the following can be done on Windows and Linux without using doubles of all images:
    * Toolbars
    * Imagelists (tree, list and notebook (on msw))
