In preparation for the Beta release of BlackLite, I've adopted a newer less resource intensive Window Manager. It's called NovaWM, and it's available here at sourceforge. By Beta-release time it will be ready as the central piece to BlackLite, it will run the startup scripts, and be prepared as program launcher. The tentative release title of the WM is NVWM:BLE, or "Nova Window Manager: BlackLite Edition"
After a week of hustle that resulted in the Halloween Alpha-2 release of BlackLite, the project is ready to go into beta or pre-production status. Planned updates include a configuration file system, a new Background manager written from scratch in perl-gtk, and GTK themer in the BlackLite control panel.
BlackLite now has a real skeleton to fill with code. Alpha-2 introduces a better layout and easier task switching. This release is considered functional only, don't take it as a final say in what BlackLite will be.
