Hello, See attached the results of a survey on ontologies usage. A few items are interesting for us since our standards use those for metadata. Among the useful information, I noted that Dublin Core was still the leading metadata ontology, way before FOAF and SKOS. Several of our formats use DC, and I think we should try to continue and use the others only to complement DC when something is missing.
