Thanks for your help. I seem to actually have gotten it working. The
following are my notes:
It is necessary to restart Bika when the computer reboots. To facilitate
* created a file //home/plone/serverscript/ containing
* created a file //etc/init.d/zeo/ containing
case "$1" in
su -c "sh serverscript && exit" -l plone
* made sure that both scripts are executable, /chmod 755 <scriptname>/
* told the system about it: /sudo update-rc.d zeo defaults/
At startup /zeo/ will be invoked with the parameter /start/. At shutdown
it will be invoked with the parameter /stop/.
This solution reminds me of the comic
and I am sure you can rationalize it since it contains several steps
whose rationale was "let's not risk changing..." and "well, that didn't
work but maybe if I just change...". Anyway, you would have a better
idea than I when it is necessary to be "in" the directory and when we
can simply invoke the script from the directory we are in. Probably we
can eliminate the serverscript entirely and simply invoke
/start-id-server/ from within /zeo/.
Anyway, thanks for all the assistance.
