Category: None Group: None Status: Open Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Shad (staffors) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Better macro management Initial Comment: It is currently difficult to manage large numbers of macros. I have over 100 macros for journal and conference names, publishers, and locations. If they are stored in the document I can browse them in the macro editor, but there is no way to search the definitions for the one I want. It is easier for me to keep them in external files that BibDesk loads, but then there is no way to even browse them. Suggested solution - enhance the macro browser with the following features: 1) Add popup menu to the macro browser with choices for showing macros from: all loaded macros, macros defined in the current document, and one menu item for each of external files loaded. If I chose the "Document" option, the table view would only show those macros defined in the current document. If I defined macros in an external file called "journal-macros.bib" and chose "journal-macros" in the popup, the table view would only show those macros defined in the journal-macros.bib file. If I choose "all" from the popup menu, show all currently defined macros. The +- buttons to add and remove macros should probably be disabled when "all" is selected. Ideally if an external macro file is selected, they would edit that file, but if that is too much work, they could be disabled for everything except "Document". 2) Add a quick-search text field to the macro browser. When I start typing in the quick-search field, limit the table-view to show only those macros where either the label or definition contains the text I typed. The table view will also be limited by the popup menu from above. For example, if I have journal-macros selected in the popup, and type "ieee" in the quick-search field, the table view would only show those entries containing the string "ieee". 3) Have the macro browser window retain its size and position between launches. 4) Have the table-view headers in the macro browser sort the table when clicked on. I'd love to be able to sort by the value, but that is not an option right now. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=497426&aid=1781373&group_id=61487 |
