Hello everybody,

just tried out the newes nightly (v.420) and it works like a charm. Found that wrong entry:

editor: Verein Vogtländische Textilgeschichte Plauen e.V.

now with editor: {Verein Vogtländische Textilgeschichte Plauen e.V.} everything is fine.

Very good!

Greetings, Rolf

You could try a regex database find for Authors starting with [a-z]
Or wait for the next nightly build which will give some more info about the warning.

Hello Christiaan,

well I'm currently using v.415.  No crashes.

Unfortunately I could not find the offensive author myself. I have manually looked into every latest addition to my bib-file (back to when the error showed up first, I think) but no uncapitalized (or ambigiously capitalized) entry. That was the reason why I wanted to try out Adam's new code.

Would there be a way (via regular expressions?) to properly search for the problem in my bib-file? I am not up to this task.

Anything else you'll need to track this down? Last time I looked there was no new nightly, the v.419 was latest.

Greetings,

Rolf

Thanks Rolf. This is an extremely weird error, because AFAICS we never even call the function where this occurs (not even indirectly). (we might in the future, as we're only at v.419 ;-)

You only get this crash in the latest nightly, not an earlier one? Any chance you have an idea opn which name it crashes?

And unfortunately we cannot catch crashes in the bibtex parsing code with the crash reporter.

Hello,

I tried out the latest nightly 20060820 (v.497) (because of the line -1-errors and new code for looking up the misspelled authors) but it crashed. The application window opened and showed my bib-file, then crashed. Maybe checking for that misspelled author?

This is from my console-log, there was NO crash report though:

BibDesk is set up to open my default bib-file on startup.
