Hello, We are very happy to get all the help we can, so you are very pleased to have you contribute. The best way to start is: 1. Read the developer information (not the design documents) at the very end of the Bacula manual (quite a bit out of date, but informative). 2. See if you can build the Win32 File daemon from source -- start with version 1.35 as in the CVS (the README.win32 is much improved). Ask for help if you have problems. 3. Contact me (copying the devel list) and let me know what you want to do. If it is reasonable, you implement it, and send me a "diff -u" against the current CVS and I'll let you know if any changes are needed then integrate it (or let you commit it -- see below). Once I am comfortable with your programming style ..., I'll give you developer CVS write access and you can commit directly into the CVS. It is not required but would help if you send me (off-list if you prefer) a brief summary of your programming experience and preferences especially any previous Free Software development experience. I'm really pleased to hear that someone wants to work on the Win32 interface because I don't particularly like working on Windows and as you say the interface is pretty poor. Please be aware that Scott Barninger <bar...@fa...> is planning to improve the Win32 installer. Thanks for your offer of help. Best regards, Kern |
