I'm stumped. Almost at the end of my rope. I'm really interested in getting Bacula to work, but I can't get by this error when I try to start Bacula or test the director conf file: ----- cut here ----- # ./bacula start Starting the Storage daemon Starting the File daemon (<-- tape drive whirs for a few seconds ) Starting the Director daemon bacula-dir: ERROR TERMINATION at parse_conf.c:410 Config error: Could not find Resourse gronk-fd referenced on line 31 : Client=gronk-fd : Line 31, col 17 of file /root/bacula/bin/bacula-dir.conf Client=gronk-fd ----- cut here ---- I've followed the install instructions to the letter (3 times now). I did full 'configure', 'make' and 'make install' for bacula-1.25a, depkgs, and depkgs1; no errors were noted. I am using MySQL; the scripts that create the various grants, database, and tables work with no error. The only change to bacula-dir.conf was to add a few paths to the include section and a few to the exclude section of the FileSet resource. I did notice that there is a slight difference in the client name; notice the difference between these two grep outputs: ---- cut here ----- # grep "gronk-fd" *.conf (no trailing space on "gronk-fd") bacula-dir.conf: Client=gronk-fd bacula-dir.conf: Client=gronk-fd bacula-dir.conf: Name = gronk-fd bacula-fd.conf: Name = gronk-fd # grep "gronk-fd " *.conf (note the trailing space on "gronk-fd ") bacula-dir.conf: Client=gronk-fd bacula-dir.conf: Client=gronk-fd ---- cut here ---- In two places in the director conf file, gronk-fd has a trailing space; I confirmed this by using 'hexedit' on the bacula- dir.conf; sure enough, there is a space (0x20) character at the end of the string 'gronk-fd'. I've tried various edits to try to correct this. I've tried removing the trailing spaces in the two places; no joy. I've tried adding a trailing space in the two places that didn't have it; no joy. I'm not convinced this is the problem, but I'm not sure where else to look. Other details that might be relevant: - Red Hat 7.2 - AMD K6/300 CPU Anyhow, I'm hoping that I can resolve this, since I really want bacula to work. Looks like a fine program.
