The following issue has been CLOSED ====================================================================== http://bugs.bacula.org/view.php?id=1605 ====================================================================== Reported By: szanzi Assigned To: ebollengier ====================================================================== Project: bacula Issue ID: 1605 Category: brestore Reproducibility: always Severity: major Priority: normal Status: closed Resolution: reopened Fixed in Version: ====================================================================== Date Submitted: 2010-07-07 15:10 BST Last Modified: 2010-07-26 16:42 BST ====================================================================== Summary: Error retrieving base job Description: We are using Bacula for 6 months for backups of our several servers. Everything is working fine and we performed many restore procedures without problems... until now. Our backup strategy is as follow: - We performed a base backup of 10 servers in January - every month we perform a full backup - every sunday we perform a diff backup - every working day we perform an inc backup This is the schedule: Run = Level=Full 1st sat at 0:30 Run = Level=Differential 1st-5th sun at 0:30 Run = Level=Incremental mon-fri at 23:30 Today we tried to restore an entire directory stored on one of the backuped servers. The restore procedure failed with this error: 06-Jul 10:01 bacula-dir.incipit-dir JobId 2274: Start Restore Job RestoreFiles.2010-07-06_10.01.05_05 06-Jul 10:01 bacula-dir.incipit-dir JobId 2274: Using Device "device-default-prjserver" 06-Jul 10:01 bacula-dir.incipit-sd JobId 2274: Ready to read from volume "prjserver-full-0731" on device "device-default-prjserver" (/storage/bvolumes/default-prjserver). 06-Jul 10:01 bacula-dir.incipit-sd JobId 2274: Forward spacing Volume "prjserver-full-0731" to file:block 10:1047509097. 06-Jul 10:01 bacula-dir.incipit-sd JobId 2274: End of Volume at file 10 on device "device-default-prjserver" (/storage/bvolumes/default-prjserver), Volume "prjserver-full-0731" 06-Jul 10:01 bacula-dir.incipit-sd JobId 2274: Ready to read from volume "prjserver-base-0055" on device "device-default-prjserver" (/storage/bvolumes/default-prjserver). 06-Jul 10:01 bacula-dir.incipit-sd JobId 2274: Forward spacing Volume "prjserver-base-0055" to file:block 2:3409297083. 06-Jul 10:01 bacula-dir.incipit-sd JobId 2274: End of Volume at file 4 on device "device-default-prjserver" (/storage/bvolumes/default-prjserver), Volume "prjserver-base-0055" 06-Jul 10:01 bacula-dir.incipit-sd JobId 2274: Warning: acquire.c:224 Read open device "device-default-prjserver" (/storage/bvolumes/default-prjserver) Volume "prjserver-base-0073" failed: ERR=dev.c:549 Could not open: /storage/bvolumes/default-prjserver/prjserver-base-0073, ERR=No such file or directory 06-Jul 10:01 bacula-dir.incipit-sd JobId 2274: Please mount Volume "prjserver-base-0073" for: Job: RestoreFiles.2010-07-06_10.01.05_05 Storage: "device-default-prjserver" (/storage/bvolumes/default-prjserver) Pool: Default Media type: File 06-Jul 10:01 bacula-dir.incipit-sd JobId 2274: acquire.c:205 Job 2274 canceled. 06-Jul 10:01 bacula-dir.incipit-sd JobId 2274: Fatal error: mount.c:844 Cannot open Dev="device-default-prjserver" (/storage/bvolumes/default-prjserver), Vol=prjserver-base-0073 06-Jul 10:01 bacula-dir.incipit-sd JobId 2274: End of all volumes. 06-Jul 10:01 bacula-dir.incipit-dir JobId 2274: Fatal error: No Job status returned from FD. 06-Jul 10:01 bacula-dir.incipit-dir JobId 2274: Bacula bacula-dir.incipit-dir 5.0.2 (28Apr10): 06-Jul-2010 10:01:48 The restore is unable to open the base volume and fails. Please consider that the base volume is stored on a different path than the full, inc and diff volumes. These path are written correctly on the config files. The proof is the fact that we restored files from the base volume, from the full, etc in these months with no problems. This time Bacula is trying to restore files from the base and from the other volumes at the same time. It look like Bacula is using a wrong path to access the base job, even if the path is listed correctly on the config file. If we create a link to the base volume inside the path where the full, diff and inc volumes are stored, the same restore procedure works fine. ====================================================================== ---------------------------------------------------------------------- (0005478) ebollengier (administrator) - 2010-07-07 15:31 http://bugs.bacula.org/view.php?id=1605#c5478 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Sorry, this is a support issue, you need to get community or profesionnal help for that. It looks like your storage configuration is wrong. See recent bug reports about this problem. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- (0005481) szanzi (reporter) - 2010-07-12 11:19 http://bugs.bacula.org/view.php?id=1605#c5481 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The problema happened today too. Are you sure that it is a configuration problem? The path for the full job on the config files is correct but the restore procedure tries to open the right full file using the directory path of the inc/diff files. Please consider that we store the full files on a directory and the diff/inc files on another directory. If we restore ony from the full file, everything works fine. Bacula uses the right path for the full files. The problem started when we upgraded to 5.0.2. We have not experienced the problem with the previous versions. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- (0005522) ebollengier (administrator) - 2010-07-26 16:42 http://bugs.bacula.org/view.php?id=1605#c5522 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Sorry you have problems, but yes, I'm sure that it's a configuration issue, the "Could not open:"... "ERR=No such file or directory" is very clear on this point. You can take a look to bugs like http://bugs.bacula.org/view.php?id=1579 or get professional or community help to fix your situation.
