I just started using BackupPC and it works pretty
well. It's been the easiest to set up on Linux,
that's for sure.
I have one problem, however. It doesn't appear that
BackupPC likes tars handling of hard links. Whenever
I try to back up files with hard links, the first
occurance gets stored ok, but for the rest I get:
tarExtract: Got unknown type 1 for some/file/name
I think tar is trying to store the hard link as a
reference to the original file, instead of creating
the file again. File type 1 appears to be for hard
links and file type 2 is for soft links.
I'm using RedHat-7.1 (client) and YellowDog Linux 2.2
(server). They both use tar version 1.13.19.
No problems with my Windows clients. Works great!
