I just upgraded from BackupPC-1.03 to BackupPC-1.4.0 on my OpenBSD
machine where I am using BackupPC. The upgrade went fine, but when
trying to use the new BackupPC_tarCreate script in 1.4.0, it does
not seem to work quite right. For example, with packed incremental
backup #8 for host, winbox, I try to create a tar archive of the
entire share, C, as follows...
BackupPC_tarCreate -h winbox -n 8 -s C / > /foo/winbox.tar
The tar archive, winbox.tar, is created but everything in it that
should be a file is instead a zero length directory. For example,
drwxr-x--- 2 backuppc backuppc 0 Mar 21 02:25 ./temp
drwxr-x--- 2 backuppc backuppc 0 Mar 21 02:25 ./temp/ad_scan.html
drwxr-x--- 2 backuppc backuppc 0 Mar 21 02:25
./temp/sec_scan.html drwxr-x--- 2 backuppc backuppc 0 Mar 21
where /temp is indeed a directory, but all the *.html dirs here are
supposed to be files (and of non-zero length!). In short, it is severely
Any ideas on what could be going wrong with the BackupPC_tarCreate
script here would be greatly appreciated.
