Ok. My boss decided that he wanted archives of just the incremental
So, I did some research/coding/banging of head on keyboard/etc. and have
finally released version 1.1.0 of archiveme.pl.
The new version has options for creating incremental archives from the
You can also have it move all the incrementals into a single archive (I
figure this would be good if you want to burn a CD/DVD and don't want
several files for each host on it).
It also has the option whether or not to keep the full archive after
generating the incremental.
Basically, it generates the full archive as before, then extracts it to
a temp directory, walks the directory and deletes all files older than
24 hours, archives the temp directory, then removes the temp data.
There are a few bug. For one, the incremental archives do not have the
permissions saved. I'm not sure why the permissions are not extracting
from the full archives.
Maybe someone can figure it out.
Anyhow, the new version is available on the BackupPC page of my site at
https://techiem2.no-ip.com as usual.
(and feel free to fix my messy/non-optimized code!)
