Hi

Confused - what are the technical requirements for running AWStas?
Specifically: Is it possible to run AWStats on IIS?

Our ISP says no, but WikiPedia says:
Written in Perl, AWStats can be deployed on almost any operating system.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AWStats

Background:
We are trying to set up some website analytics to run across our web access logs for our IIS (.NET) based website.
Albeit reluctantly, we shall probably be using Google Analytics as well, but that will of course have no history to it and being "client-based" (i.e. using tagging rather than raw access logs) it wont be able to see things like errors and image accesses and overall server load.

Cheers

John

Hello John, there AWStats does indeed run just fine with IIS. IF you want to run it as a CGI application under IIS, you just have to install Perl and configure extensions under IIS, setup permissions and you're good to go. If you don't want to re-configure IIS, then you can still install Perl on a machine and use it to generate static HTML reports. There are a number of tutorials on the web on how to set it up so try running a search and if you have questions, post in the AWStats forums here. thanks.
