I've configured awstats 6.5 on one of my server, and we have one site on the same server
also we run the streamming media server, and as per the awstats bandwidth utilization
for awstats it shows near about 1000 GB Per month, but our ISP consideration say's 2.5 GB bandwidth per month, so anybody tell what could be the issue or causes??

    Thanks in Advance.

    Regards,

I would think the difference most probably comes from the handling of the 206 HTTP code. It is not considered a "success" response by Awstats unless you add it to "200" and "304" in the config. Unfortunately it is also not counted in the bandwidth ("as not viewed"). Yet most of the large files are "viewed". So a correct (in my humble opinion) behaviour would be not to handle it as "success" (number of "pages" skyrockets), should be considered in "success hits" and definitely should be added to the bandwidth.

You know that awstats is not a traffic analyzer right? It is just telling you how much data was requested and sent out from the webserver. There is request overhead, administrative bandwidth, your own uploads to the site, chat, email, etc. Now I don't know your site, but it is possible that the rest is using up 1.5gb of bandwidth, although I doubt it. I would check your interface counter and/or setup some sort of bandwidth monitor such as rrdtool to see where your bandwidth is being used. [http://oss.oetiker.ch/rrdtool/] You can now check to see what is using your bandwidth and use awstats to break down the outgoing http and/or smtp traffic.
