Direct access to last remembered...

2004-10-05

  • I have awstat processing a large logfile (60 MB) - currently in use (today's logfile)....
    It always returns:
Direct access to last remembered record has fallen on another record...

And thus it processes the file from start each time - making it slow.

What it the solution to this?

I'm running the latest version 6.2

    Thanks.

    • I am not sure if I got that right:

You have one large logfile containing logdata for days that already have been processed? And you are adding the daily data to this logfile?
If so, why don't you simply just run awstats on the new logline?

      On 10/05:
      apache logs to www.log
      Run awstats on www.log
      Copy www.log to wwwlog_10-05-2004.log

      On 10/06:
      apache logs to www.log
      Run awstats on www.log
      Copy www.log to wwwlog_10-06-2004.log

By this awstats will only process the lines of the current day. As awstats uses a database there is no need to keep the old logfiles.

      best regards,
