Immediately after a QTAIM calculation ends the user is often started with ball and stick turned off and the draw tool turned on. In my experience this leads users to begin drawing invisible ethane molecules everywhere while trying to rotate their system.

This contrasts with when one imports a formatted checkpoint file and it defaults to the navigate tool when rendering MOs. A consistent metaphor would be that when building or optimising users should be started with draw and when viewing the output of a calculation they should be started with navigate or manipulate.

Discussion

  • Agreed. I just submitted a patch to gerrit that fixes this. Nice catch!

    Thanks,
