    I am using Suse 8.0. Kernel source loaded I have compliled the driver and all that jazz but when i do a "insmod au8830" using the compiled 1.1.3.2 driver. I get this message and it is so frustrating because i got it worked once and then i restarted and no go. Get this message.

    au8830.o will taint the kernel: no license
    I got another error that is listed in this forum and this forum has helped me get this far with this install
    any help would be great.

      insmod -f au8830

      should work if insmod au8830 doesn't. Whichever one works should be put in one of config files to load at every boot. I'm not familiar with suse but rc.local works well for most distros. The tainting thing isn't an error, it's a warning. It should stop it from working.

        What I meant to say is that "tainted" messages should _not_ stop it from working. I really need to learn to proofread before clicking "submit".
