Paul, Accelerated spectrogram is very interesting, specially if spectral editing is going to be fostered. Some ideas that may be tested include: 1) Create a second version of the sound file which is essentially the spectrogram. This could be computed automatically whenever a file is created or imported or its creation could be optional via some preference item; 2) Keep in memory the spectral information that has been already computed and retrieve it instead of computing it again when a spectral view is revisited. A potential problem is when the waveform is edited so that its length changes, but it could be dealed with by interpolation (hopefully, as no phase is taken intio account in an ordinary spectrogram, this would lead to acceptable representation). An "upgrade view" and "upgrade all" might be of help for "cleaning" the spectral version now and then. Regards.
