Just noting that it was turned back on in http://code.google.com/p/audacity/source/detail?r=12706 . > Expected (by me anyway) for 2.0.6 after more testing. Do we have a volunteer to do that who understands enough about how this effect should work? I'm going to have a play with Norm's effect and see if the Manual page for it makes any sense to an "audiot" like me. Note that David's patch would need to be committed if we are going to leave Scientific Filter on: http://bugzilla.audacityteam.org/show_bug.cgi?id=659 . Are we sure we want to use estate in the Effect menu for Scientific Filter? We already have an alternative Chebyshev Type I Nyquist plug-in which goes to 30 orders. Is Scientific Filter mainstream enough for its place given what we have already in Audacity and elsewhere? There are some basic effects Audacity does not yet have at all like Chorus and Distortion which I would expect space to be made available for if those effects were developed. I hasten to add that I do like the graph and the customisable filter order in Norm's effect. Looking at it from the other end, can the shape of the shipped High Pass and Low Pass filters be considered close enough to Butterworth to ship Scientific Filter instead of High Pass and Low Pass? Or would it be too complex/fiddly to use for a quick High Pass? Maybe not if presets were added ?
