| From "David Bailes" <drb...@go...> | Thu, 20 Sep 2007 12:51:55 +0100 | Subject: [Audacity-devel] time shifting one or more tracks | It may well be the case that the easiest way for vi users to | time-shift tracks is to use the plug-in which David Sky is developing. | However, it's not too difficult using the selection bar: | | 1. Select one or more tracks that you want to shift. | 2. Go to the Move Cursor sub-menu on the Edit menu, and choose To track End. | 3. Move to the Selection Start spin-box, and if necessary change the | format to hh:mm:ss + milliseconds. | 3. Increment or decrement to counter. For example to decrement the | counter by 231 ms: end, down arrow, left arrow, down arrow x3, left | arrow, down arrow x2. | 4. Go to the Align tracks sub-menu on the Tracks menu, and choose | Align end with cursor. That's a great tip David and of course works even if you have white space preceding the clip. If you want to shift forwards, you'd just change the instruction in Step 2 to cursor to track start, and in step 4 to Align with cursor. Would it be a good idea to add this to your JAWS guide? http://vip.chowo.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/jaws/Audacity-1.3.3-Guide.html David S's TimeShifter or alternative solution is a one step answer though if the white space problem can be addressed (and you have to use it for 1.2.x anyway).
