As a humble user, this makes a lot of sense to me. If near-realtime 
operation is the goal, then the most direct connection to the sound 
server seems the obvious way to go about it.

I've recently been looking into mastering Audacity-recorded tracks 
using Jamin, and so far the only way to do this is to export 
individual tracks and re-import them into a Jack capable program, 
such as Ardour. I've had four of our band's tracks mastered this way 
by Ron Parker, a member of the Jamin team, which will soon be 
available for download.
