Can't get Audacity to work on Apple PowerBook 15" Aluminium 1Ghz machine
running Yellow Dog Linux.
I installed Audacity from a YUM update via FreshRPMs.net. Install goes
well, and the program starts after it's installed. But when I open it under
KDE or FAILSAFE I get an i/o device is not detected or found error.
Also, this machine is dual boot YDL and OS X. Audacity works like a champ
under OS X. The problem is that I'm trying to make a clean break from Apple
to Linux so I really want to get this thing working.

Do other sound programs work correctly? If not, make sure that you have
the correct permissions to access your sound device. Also, make sure
that you are using OSS sound drivers, or ALSA drivers with OSS
Otherwise, make sure that no other programs are using the sound device.
In particular, turn off the "artsd" sound daemon in the KDE control
