I've just downloaded audacity and have been mousing around getting
familiar with the program.
I tried Daniel James' tutorial. Worked fine, except that I need a
headset that has two ears :)
When I got done I checked out preferences. Discovered lame, downloaded
it and tried to point audacity to the lame lib.
That worked ok, but I cannot save my preferences.
I get 'Invalid playback device' whether I'm trying to save preferences
with the lame lib set, or just the 'out of the box preferences' that
audacity came with.
Both the record and playback devices are set to /dev/dsp.
I use the alsa driver for the via chip on my machine.
I could hear the playback fine through my invalid device.
How can I fix this?
