As we all know, the "Cross Fade In" / "Cross Fade Out" effects do not
I would like to propose replacing the "Cross Fade In" and the "Cross
Fade Out" effects with this effect that does cross-fade (download
link: http://forum.audacityteam.org/download/file.php?id=4199 ).
A brief summary of this effect:
* Cross Fade...
* Cross Fade (default)
* Fade In
* Fade Out
* Show Help
* The fade shape may be linear, a simple curve, or an "S" curve
* The cross-fade length is adjustable between 0.1 and 10 seconds
(longer/shorter cross-fades are possible by text entry).
* Fades-out the initial 5 seconds of the selection and fades-in the
final 5 seconds of the selection, then moves the fade-in section so
that it overlaps with the fade-out section to produce a 5 second
A linear cross-fade will often sound like the loudness drops mid way
through the fade, so this effect includes a "curve" control to adjust
the shape of the fade. Increasing the Curve setting will cause the
mid-fade level to be higher (the terminology here is consistent with
that used for the cross-fade slider on a DJ mixer).
The "S Curve" is particularly well suited for fading out songs and
commonly used on professional recordings.
